2026 Mustang GTD
The 2026 Ford Mustang GTD represents one of the most ambitious performance vehicles ever to wear the Mustang name. Developed with technology and engineering inspired by Ford’s Mustang GT3 race car, the GTD was created to challenge some of the world’s most advanced European sports cars while remaining street legal. Its extensive use of carbon fiber, sophisticated aerodynamics, rear-mounted transaxle, semi-active suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, and race-derived engineering distinguish it dramatically from a traditional Mustang.
At its heart is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing 815 horsepower, sending power through a rear-mounted eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle that helps provide near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution. The GTD is capable of a 202 mph top speed and became the first American production car to complete Germany’s legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife in under seven minutes. Ford later recorded a remarkable 6:40.835 lap, placing the Mustang GTD among an elite group of production performance cars.
More than simply the most extreme Mustang of its era, the GTD represents Ford’s determination to combine American V8 performance with world-class aerodynamics, chassis technology, and motorsports engineering. With extremely limited production and a design created specifically to compete with the world’s premier supercars, the Mustang GTD stands as an important chapter in the evolution of one of America’s most recognizable performance automobiles.
